Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement patient care plans based on ongoing assessment and input from patients and families.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to promote effective patient care and share information to ensure seamless communication.
- Verify and implement orders from physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice nurses, performing interventions as prescribed and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Engage patients and families in developing educational plans and recognizing symptoms, establishing priorities, and responding to changing patient needs.
- Delegate tasks to support personnel, provide support and feedback, and advocate for patients, families, and the nursing profession.
- Integrate theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, and current standards of practice to provide high-quality patient care, measured by established nursing quality standards and governing bodies.
- Assume the role of Charge Nurse when assigned, utilizing resources and tools effectively.
- Collaborate with other nurses to identify, promote, and provide positive learning experiences for staff and students.
- Take responsibility for continued professional growth and development by identifying learning needs and initiating strategies to meet those needs.
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
- Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit-specific certifications.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and healthcare providers.
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
- Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history required.
