Job Summary

The Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that all eligible employees have benefit and retirement system coverage and that they understand their coverage and procedures necessary to utilize their benefit and retirement system plan. This role will work closely with the Leave Specialist and interact with the payroll department to initiate and maintain benefits for each employee.

Key Responsibilities

Counsel and assist all employees with all employee insurance and retirement benefit plans.
Explain the retirement process to inquiring employees and handle paperwork processing to State Retirement System on employee's behalf.
Assist with retirement calculation estimates and interact with PEBA Plan to obtain and convey information.
Approve all enrollments and changes made by employees and manage annual open enrollments for PEBA.
Prepare and deliver benefits presentations to management and staff as necessary and prepare and send benefits communications and announcements to all employees.
Process life insurance and retirement system death claims for employees and covered family members and achieve and maintain a Notary Public License.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED and Associate's Degree or higher in Business, Human Resources, Education or related field preferable.
Three-Five years of experience in a related office environment, preferably in Human Resources and/or benefit administration setting.
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products and principles and practices of PC's and related software.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing, verbally, and in presentations and maintain effective working relationships with all employees.
Interface with school staff, administrators, and all employees and compose letters, memorandum, and reports.

Work Environment

The employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near a video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate. Work is typically in an office setting, primarily sitting at office equipment and standing at files. Daily contact is made with employees and the general public in person, by telephone, and in writing.
