About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Merchandise Team Leader to join our team at Target. As a General Merchandise Team Leader, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our general merchandise and food sales areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Service and Experience
    • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience.
    • Model, train, and coach expectations to deliver the service standard.
  • Department Operations
    • Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
    • Merchandise, pricing, transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, promotions, and price change.
  • Process Improvement and Efficiency
    • Help lead the understanding of how operational procedures impact shortage, profitability, in-store replenishment, and inventory accuracy.
    • Assess reporting to identify gaps in GM and Fulfillment processes and assist in developing a plan to resolve.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Help empower the team to create a consistent experience for our guests.
    • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
    • Lead team onboarding and learning and close knowledge gaps through training and experiences.
  • Store Operations and Safety
    • Responsible for working with Closing teams to identify key priorities and ensure the store is guest-ready.
    • Help create a safety advocacy culture by understanding how safety impacts your role and that of your team.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Lead and hold others accountable.
    • Communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed.
    • Work independently and as part of a team.
    • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Physical Demands
    • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
    • Interpret instructions, reports, and information.
    • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
    • Climb up and down ladders as needed.
    • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely.
