Position Overview: Travel Nurse Across America is actively seeking a travel nurse RN specializing in the Operating Room for an exciting travel nursing opportunity.

We are in search of skilled Operating Room RNs for an immediate travel nursing role. Ideal candidates should possess 1-2 years of recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or RN first assistant. Below are additional requirements and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

As an OR Travel Nurse, your primary duties will include:

  • Providing essential bedside care to surgical patients.
  • Preparing, administering, and documenting prescribed medications while monitoring for adverse reactions.
  • Acting as a communication link between patients' families and the surgical team.
  • Ensuring the correct procedures are performed on the right patients.
  • Initiating patient education plans as directed by physicians, guiding patients and families on medication management and home care.
Additional Duties:

For Circulating OR Nurses:

  • Addressing patients' comfort and safety needs.
  • Accurate handling of specimens.
  • Monitoring surgical equipment.
  • Conducting inventory of surgical items before and after procedures.

For Scrub OR Nurses:

  • Selecting and managing surgical instruments and supplies during operations.
  • Conducting inventory of surgical items before and after procedures.

For RN First Assistants:

  • Assisting physicians with direct surgical care.
  • Managing bleeding control during procedures.
  • Suturing patients post-surgery.

OR Travel Nurses must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, as well as bending and lifting patients when necessary. RNs should be able to lift up to 20 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. There may be exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment.

Qualifications:

Required: BLS certification and 2 years of relevant experience.

Note: Additional certifications may be required prior to starting the assignment.
