Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Hotel Accounting Manager to join our team at DoubleTree by Hilton Rochester. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial systems, internal controls, and financial reporting for our hotel.

About the Role

The Hotel Accounting Manager will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for managing the accounting functions of the hotel, including accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of the hotel accounting department, ensuring strong managerial skills and the ability to train department heads on policies and procedures.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, accruals, journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Review night audit packages, including the Daily Revenue Report and posting to the general ledger, and verify Cash, Accounts Receivable, and Tax Reconciliations are prepared daily.
  • Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, operating results, and sales tax compliance.
  • Ensure proper and timely billing of all receivables, including individual and group bookings, and follow through on written and verbal collection efforts for all accounts receivable.
  • Research charge backs and disputed charges, and respond to all inquiries regarding accounts receivable.
  • On a monthly basis, prepare required reports and documentation of all aged accounts receivable detail, including a determination of the allowance for doubtful accounts and/or accounts receivable write-offs.
  • Administer all accounts payable in a timely manner.
  • Review and approval of weekly payroll, verifying compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ensure the hotel is in compliance with current Accounting Policy Procedures and Controls, and review internal accounting processes for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform Systems of Accounts for the Lodging Industry.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree in accounting, as well as 5-6 years of minimum related experience.
  • Hilton (On Q) experience is preferred.
  • Proven leadership track record.
  • Extensive knowledge of hotel operations, services, and accounting.
  • Accounting experience in full-service hotels.
  • Proficiency in computer accounting systems and spreadsheets, with experience using M3 and ADP a plus.
  • Self-motivated to take charge and assume responsibility.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,406.00 - $65,000 per year, as well as medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) plan, Hilton travel benefits, free lunch, and free parking.
