The Senior Accountant will manage a diverse range of financial responsibilities, including the evaluation of appropriate accounting practices for unique transactions, preparation of journal entries, overseeing the accounts payable and expense management team, and handling fixed asset management. Additionally, this role provides an opportunity to gain insights into tax regulations and FAR overhead rate analysis pertinent to government contracts. You will also support the Senior Director of Accounting and the Controller as needed. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounts payable, attention to detail, analytical capabilities, and a solid understanding of general accounting principles. Consistent and dependable attendance is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly and year-end journal entries, including those for unique transactions.
  • Research and apply appropriate accounting treatments in compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure precise financial reporting.
  • Analyze historical accounting data to clarify original intentions and utilize accounting expertise to rectify any identified discrepancies.
  • Conduct account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Manage fixed asset recognition and calculate monthly depreciation.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and eliminations.
  • Assist in data collection and analysis for various audits and governmental projects.
  • Complete regular business and tax filings.
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable and Business Expense team, including voucher creation, disbursements, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and year-end 1099 reporting.
  • Support the implementation of new accounting software and related processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in general accounting, with a focus on accounts payable.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a growing team.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.
Additional Requirements: Physical: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally and spend long hours in front of a computer.
