Position Overview:

The Senior Risk Management Specialist, Credit Retail is responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and assessment of various risk segmentation strategies. This includes, but is not limited to, adjudication, exposure management, risk segmentation, and optimizing financial returns. The Specialist provides essential insights, detailed analyses, and implements effective credit risk strategies that align with TD's risk appetite while complying with all regulatory requirements. The role involves investigating, developing, and validating diverse risk segmentation strategies and policies using complex datasets, including cohort time series analysis of PCL, Marketing Investments, Decision Expense, Risk Adjusted Revenue, Risk Adjusted Margin, NPV, ROE, etc., with minimal guidance from management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs functions typical of a Risk Manager I
  • Serves as an expert at the enterprise or group business level
  • Acts as the primary regulatory liaison on risk matters for a significant business segment and evaluates existing and new regulations
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams beyond risk
  • Represents the business in corporate initiatives, identifying key risks and implications while providing direction in complex scenarios
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Graduate degree preferred or equivalent progressive experience
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in MS Office and various analytical and reporting software
  • Experience with Relational Databases and ETL processes using languages such as SQL or SAS
  • Familiarity with SAS Enterprise Miner, FICO Model Builder, or Angoss Knowledge Seeker
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data and derive conclusions
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong task management and prioritization skills
  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain productive relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced in developing and presenting recommendations to Senior Management
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates governance, control, and risk management behaviors in alignment with TD policies and practices. Leads or participates in the identification, development, and implementation of new initiatives, operational workflows, and efficiencies, potentially leading special project teams or cross-functional groups.
  • Assists in enhancing credit risk assessment capabilities to identify and sustain beneficial business opportunities with clients.
  • Conducts detailed analyses and interprets information to provide recommendations to Senior Management on critical strategies, including non-standard and ad-hoc requests.
  • Generates reports on the outcomes of implemented strategies using appropriate quantitative methods and MIS, making recommendations to enhance efficiencies and revenue while managing credit risk.
  • Effectively collaborates with teams outside of risk and works with Internal Audit/External Regulators to ensure comprehensive documentation of all processes.
  • Ensures sound credit control by proactively managing risk within the Bank's guidelines and facilitates timely communication of relevant issues to foster good relationships with internal and external groups.
