We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor of ESL to join our faculty at Saint Mary's School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English as a Second Language to our students, working closely with department chair and colleagues to align curriculum with our academic program, and designing student-centered curriculum that promotes student agency.
Key Responsibilities- Teach 1-2 sections of English as a Second Language
- Collaborate with department chair and colleagues to effectively align curriculum to the SMS academic program
- Design student-centered curriculum that promotes student agency
- Embed key competencies into the learning environment when relevant
- Contribute to the academic team as an enthusiastic and contributing member
- Use authentic feedback and assessment to report on students' progress regularly
- Utilize technology as a teaching tool to maximize student learning
- Provide differentiated instruction for all students in collaboration with the Student Support Team
- Write recommendations for college applications and for awards, scholarships, and honors
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders through regularly scheduled progress reports
- Engage in continuous professional growth by participating in regular professional learning opportunities
- Adopt and practice Saint Mary's School Learning Principles and Principles of Professionalism
- Familiarize yourself with and follow policies in the Employee Handbook
- Support the school and its mission
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Five years of teaching experience
- Experience and qualifications to teach at the high school level
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative, student-centered curriculum that prioritizes cutting-edge research
- Demonstrated ability to team teach and implement teaching techniques that foster learning with a diverse range of students
- Proven interest in girls' education
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to establish priorities
- Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration with colleagues and academic leaders
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to use applicable technology tools
- Enthusiasm and commitment towards professional development and lifelong learning
