Purpose and Scope

The Maintenance Technician I SS- SAN Wet Plant is responsible for assisting in equipment repair and preventative maintenance procedures in the operation of the facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation of the facility and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repairs, replaces, corrects, or affects equipment as needed to ensure it operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
  • Consults with engineers and vendors as needed to resolve equipment issues.
  • Accomplishes layout work for each project as needed and troubleshoots equipment to identify and resolve issues.
  • Meets safety requirements in accomplishing responsibilities, complying with all policies or regulations set forth by Simmons or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle handling, food products, packaging, ingredients, and related items.
Team Collaboration

The Maintenance Technician I SS- SAN Wet Plant participates as a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues. This includes direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, and other key areas. The role also involves identifying areas that lack cohesiveness and bringing them to the attention of the team leader to resolve issues and achieve synergy within the organization.

Simmons Operating Systems Principles and Objectives

The Maintenance Technician I SS- SAN Wet Plant is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems, including quality, security, office environment, company policies, and LEAN. This role understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with these systems and its role in supporting them, including considering the impact of individual actions on the systems and communicating concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities and Requirements
  • Enters and locates information on a computer.
  • Visually verifies information, often in small print.
  • Must be able to manually lift or move objects weighing pounds.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, on feet for entire shift.
  • Must be able to work in cramped, enclosed, elevated, wet, dirty area with a noise level above 90 decibels.
Technical Experience and Education

The Maintenance Technician I SS- SAN Wet Plant must have experience or vocational training in welding, electrical or mechanical repair, and refrigeration or hydraulics. A good command of the English language, both written and spoken, is also required. A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Competencies

The Maintenance Technician I SS- SAN Wet Plant must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and the leadership team. This includes strong communication skills and decision quality.
