Position Overview:
As a Nursing Assistant in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), you will deliver essential, patient-centered care in a clinical environment, operating under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Your role is vital in ensuring that care meets the standards of practice and complies with state regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide fundamental support to patients, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Assist in clerical tasks and coordination within the nursing unit, contributing to a holistic patient care environment.
- Monitor and update patient orders and schedules for diagnostic and therapeutic services.
- Maintain accurate records of unit census and patient information, ensuring timely communication among healthcare providers.

Patient Care Duties:
- Aid the RN in daily patient care activities, including hygiene, feeding, and mobility assistance.
- Measure and document vital signs and other essential patient data accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Participate in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.

Communication and Coordination:
- Ensure patient call lights are accessible and respond promptly to requests.
- Conduct purposeful rounding, communicating observations and concerns to the RN effectively.
- Facilitate communication within the healthcare team, managing multiple lines of communication.

Clinical Support:
- Assist with nutritional needs and maintain skin integrity under the RN's direction.
- Collect specimens and perform point-of-care testing as required, adhering to proper protocols.

Professional Development:
- Maintain competency in required skills and participate in ongoing education to meet hospital certification standards.
- Uphold infection prevention policies, demonstrating proper hygiene and safety procedures.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Nurse Aide certification in good standing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within a specified timeframe.

Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in basic computer skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
