Three 12-hour night shifts weekly with weekend and holiday rotations as needed.

Pay Range: $46.60/hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes respiratory therapy techniques to assist in patient assessment, employing skills such as pulmonary diagnostics and correlating laboratory values.
  • Operates specialized ventilators in both critical and non-critical care settings, assisting physicians with procedures as necessary.
  • Administers medication treatments and therapies as per physician orders and established protocols.
  • Maintains and ensures the proper functioning of equipment, troubleshooting as needed and coordinating repairs.
  • Educates patients on therapy goals, techniques, and self-care strategies.
  • Collaborates with other departments to facilitate clinical problem-solving and provide patient education.
  • Adapts to various service areas under physician guidance, complying with policies and maintaining performance standards.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and conflict resolution skills, ensuring accurate patient handoffs.
  • Promotes a culture of safety by applying proper safety measures and reporting any safety events promptly.
  • Instructs and mentors new team members and students.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care and understand growth and development principles.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
  • State-issued Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Refer to the Education/Certification Addendum for additional site-specific requirements.
Education Required:

Graduation from an accredited respiratory care program with at least an associate degree.

Experience Required:

No prior experience necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make decisions regarding patient care and equipment use.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including email and electronic medical record systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong listening abilities.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians.
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must demonstrate safe body mechanics at all times.
