Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Colonial Downs + Rosie's Gaming Emporium. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our guests and employees, while also maintaining a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional guest service and demonstrate a commitment to our company's culture and values.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment, promoting teamwork and motivation among colleagues.
  • Attend daily briefings and meetings, and participate in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the department by adhering to company policies and procedures, and enforcing responsible gaming and internal control policies.
  • Write clear and concise reports, documenting only factual information and avoiding personal opinions.
  • Respond to non-routine incidents, taking appropriate actions and making necessary notifications.
  • Perform currency transports in accordance with gaming procedures.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and communicate effectively with colleagues and guests.
  • Ensure quick, fair, and consistent resolution of customer complaints.
  • Safeguard property assets and respond to First Aid situations, administering CPR as needed.
  • Adhere to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Program regulations, including Suspicious Activity Reporting and Customer Identification requirements.
  • Perform drops, collecting drop boxes from games in accordance with Internal Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Record accurate counts of each box in the count system/sheet and reconcile amounts with other count team members.
  • Ensure the integrity of gambling, banking, count room, and cash handling procedures.
  • Handle confidential information, reports, incidents, and materials with discretion and professionalism.
  • Communicate effectively within the department, sharing information with colleagues and ensuring that all necessary parties are informed.
  • Inform security senior management of information necessary for the efficient operation of the business.
  • Resolve problems within the scope of authority and recommend courses of action to resolve problems beyond the scope of authority to the supervisor.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of relevant activities.
Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities
  • Attend required training sessions offered by the company.
  • Obtain and retain required licenses.
  • Perform duties in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the department.
  • Have knowledge of the Property's programs to address problem gaming.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the employee may have knowledge.
Position Qualifications

We require a high school diploma or GED equivalent, as well as formal security or law enforcement training, schooling, or certification. Relevant on-the-job experience may be considered in lieu of formal training. The ideal candidate will be able to formulate and communicate ideas effectively, and work in an environment exposed to secondhand smoke, moderate to loud noise levels, and varied light levels.

Certificates, licenses, and registrations required for this position include the Virginia Racing Commission License.
