Job Title: Security Officer for Charter School

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Security Officer to join our team at a charter school in the Bronx. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors on campus.

Job Summary

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for observing and reporting activities and incidents on campus, providing security and safety for client property and personnel, and making periodic tours to check for irregularities. You will also be responsible for preserving order and enforcing regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors on campus
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with parents, students, staff, and community members
  • Monitor hallways, stairwells, toilet facilities, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised places of the school to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility
  • Assist with fire drills, crises, and other emergency building evacuations and situations
  • Assist administrators and staff in crisis and emergency situations
  • Ensure a smooth traffic flow of students through the hallways, assisting students with on-time arrival to class and to assigned locations
  • Supervise and direct student movement during arrival and dismissal
  • Update security records, logs, and reports
  • Ensure all doors and gates are locked and that all alarms are engaged at designated times
  • Assist staff and emergency personnel in handling emergencies and deescalating disruptive situations that may arise on campus
  • Assist in daily operational duties as needed
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be Fully Vaccinated
  • Valid NYS Security Guard License
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must have exceptional Customer Service Skills
  • Must be able to verbally de-escalate situations
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be able to understand the English language and communicate it effectively in both the verbal and written form
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPR Certification
  • Ability to understand and speak Spanish
