Overview:
Job Responsibilities

Travel to various clinic locations to provide support for Medical Assistant roles.

Deliver exceptional customer service and warmly welcome patients entering the facility.

A versatile individual committed to assisting in all facets of medical operations, encompassing both administrative and clinical tasks under the direct supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and direct communications (electronic, in-person, and phone) to the appropriate staff. Establish connections with other departments, healthcare providers, patients, and external organizations as needed for operational efficiency.
  • Manage patient scheduling and coordinate appointments following established protocols.
  • Conduct patient interviews and complete the registration process for those utilizing specific services.
  • Input patient data, diagnostic codes, orders, charges, and payments as specified in the electronic medical record system.
  • Handle cashiering duties related to co-payments or other patient transactions. May also perform routine clerical tasks for the department.
  • Execute basic laboratory procedures, including aseptic techniques and measuring patient vital signs.
  • Perform venipuncture and administer routine, non-controlled medications.
  • Administer medications as directed by a licensed healthcare provider.
  • Collect routine laboratory specimens as instructed by the provider.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to patients, families, representatives, and other members of the healthcare team.
Work Environment

Must be able to function effectively under pressure in emergency, critical, or unusual situations. Capable of managing periodic workload fluctuations and responsibilities. Required to make independent decisions without supervision. Must possess the ability to make assessments, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria.

Must demonstrate adaptability to perform a variety of tasks, often shifting from one duty to another without losing efficiency or composure.

Requires the ability to collaborate with others beyond merely giving and receiving instructions.

Qualifications:
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Basic computer proficiency and arithmetic skills.
  • Knowledge of outpatient healthcare or a related field.
  • Ability to deliver dynamic customer service using various techniques, including positive communication, calming presence, attentiveness, clear communication, and patience.
  • Possesses critical thinking, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and quality of work.
  • Effective and courteous communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience Requirements

1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.

2 years of clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a healthcare-related field preferred.

1 year of experience with third-party payors and data entry for patient demographic information preferred.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.

This position requires travel to various clinical locations.

Current driver's license and proof of auto insurance required at the time of hire.

Certification/Licensure

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required within 6 months.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire.

Medical Terminology Certificate preferred within 30 days.

Driver's License - Florida required at the time of hire.
