Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant Graduate to join our team at UF Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register patients and perform other registration functions
  • Obtain necessary signatures and documentation from patients for billing and insurance purposes
  • Order laboratory tests and other tests via the computer system at the direction of physicians
  • Perform end-of-day disposition and gather statistical information relating to patients
  • Announce the arrival of patients and answer incoming telephone calls for the department
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, nurses, physicians, and others
  • Provide excellent customer service and greet patients entering the department
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant program
  • Excellent decision making skills and initiative
  • Very detailed oriented
  • Excellent verbal communications skills in the English language
  • Basic arithmetic skills for cashiering
  • Data entry experience
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and organize workflow
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional customer service related manner
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of ambulatory health care or related health care fields
  • Skilled in conflict resolution
Licensure/Certifications
  • Medical Assistant certification within 6 months of date of hire/transfer
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
  • ICD-9 and CPT coding
  • Completion of a standard terminology course
  • Two to four years clerical/customer service experience in a healthcare related industry
  • One year experience with third party payors and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing patient demographic material
  • One year Medical Assistant experience
