Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

Valor Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Care Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality patient care at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Copperas Cove, TX.
About the RoleAs a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive medical services to our nation's veterans. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients with diseases and injuries.
- Collaborating with the core PACT Team and expanded PACT Team to develop patient care plans.
- Actively diagnosing and treating patients under the direction of a supervising physician.
- Examining patients for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders.
- Developing and implementing patient management plans and assisting in provision of continuity of care.
- Ordering and performing diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, laboratory tests, etc., and interpreting test results for deviations from normal.
- Counseling patients on the use of prescription medications, educating patients, assessing mental health issues, and providing routine health maintenance.
- Evaluating patients' records from medical providers outside the VA and working with these patients utilizing rules set forth by the VA for co-managed care.
- Completing clinical reminders and documentation of the medical record within 24 hours of a patient encounter.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a graduate degree in nursing with a focus on nurse practitioner (MSN required).
- Certification by a professional organization.
- A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a CRNP in a related primary care or ambulatory care setting, with a preference for government healthcare experience.
- Credentialed and in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
- A valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment or any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support and ACLS, as specified by individual VAMC contract.
- Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Strong computer skills.
- An energetic and optimistic demeanor.
- A strong service mentality and a focus on achieving all aspects of defined service standards.
