GENERAL SUMMARY:


The Product Packaging Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the sales team by developing packaging solutions that address customer challenges, including cost efficiency, waste reduction, damage mitigation, safety considerations, and enhancing customer experience.

This position will engage in both QP and ProPac functions and will have a temporary reporting line to the CEO.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


- Drive revenue and profitability by designing, creating, developing, testing, and validating packaging solutions tailored to customer requirements and enhancing operational efficiency.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory, structural, design, and aesthetic standards as per customer specifications.

- Demonstrate expertise in various packaging materials such as films, corrugated materials, foams, woods, and glass.

- Accompany sales representatives on customer visits to identify and understand their needs.

- Assist sales representatives in finalizing deals by delivering appealing packaging designs that address customer concerns.

- Provide prompt responses, quotes, and designs to facilitate the Sales Department's 'speed to market' objectives.

- Collaborate with sales and purchasing teams to source relevant products.

- Stay informed and communicate sustainability trends, products, vendors, options, and programs to the team.

- Utilize CAD and design software to develop packaging products.

- Work with cross-functional teams within ProPac and with customers to ensure product specifications are met.

- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including drawings, calculations, specifications, and product data.

- Update stakeholders on project strategies, adjustments, and progress.

- Perform additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

General:
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision.
- Strong team player with excellent attention to detail.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with customers, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated time management and multitasking abilities.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and be at least 18 years of age.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering.

Experience:


- Relevant experience in the packaging sector.

- In-depth knowledge of packaging materials and substrates, including corrugated, folding cartons, structured films, and printing processes.

- Experience in product design utilizing a comprehensive range of packaging materials.

- Familiarity with testing laboratories to ensure quality in shipping, handling, and freight processes.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.

- Ability to read, write, and interpret technical documentation.



Soft Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project Management tools; Salesforce experience is a plus.

Reasoning Abilities:
- Strong financial analysis skills.
- Ability to independently solve problems.
- Bilingual in Spanish is advantageous.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% based on project requirements. Meetings may be required at customer locations in manufacturing or corporate environments.
- Office: Ability to work at a desk for the duration of the workday, which may involve sitting for extended periods.
- Client Facility: Ability to work at client facilities as needed, which may require prolonged standing and walking in non-conditioned manufacturing environments.

Physical demands include standing, walking, squatting, crawling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
