Position Overview:
We are currently inviting applications for the role of Exceptional Education Instructor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings to share insights regarding student progress with fellow professionals.
- Utilize curriculum standards to design cohesive units of study, tailored lessons, and interactive learning experiences that enhance students' knowledge.
- Assess student learning through formal and informal evaluations to create suitable learning activities for diverse cognitive levels.
- Clearly articulate learning objectives to students.
- Integrate acquired knowledge into daily teaching practices, reflected in effective classroom management and lesson delivery.
- Maintain an organized and visually appealing classroom environment that fosters academic and behavioral development.
- Show sensitivity and appreciation for the diverse backgrounds of students, including race, gender, ethnicity, and learning styles.
- Compile necessary documentation to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students.
- Regularly update and implement IEPs as required.
- Prepare comprehensive lesson plans with defined objectives and measurable outcomes, submitting them to the Director of Education bi-weekly.
- Provide detailed lesson plans for substitute instructors when necessary.
- Keep accurate attendance records.
- Report any medical or legal incidents involving staff or students to the Education Director/Program Director in writing.
Required Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of teaching principles and practices.
- Strong understanding of subjects and activities relevant to the area of specialization.
- Familiarity with instructional methodologies pertinent to the field.
- Awareness of current educational literature, trends, and resources.
- Ability to critically evaluate student achievements and tailor assignments to their interests and abilities.
- Skill in preparing lesson plans and organizing effective instructional programs.
- Capability to create assessments that measure student learning outcomes.
- Proficiency in maintaining records and preparing relevant reports and correspondence.
- Strong interpersonal skills and maturity to support students with emotional challenges, functioning effectively within a team.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to interact appropriately with students in alignment with the organization's treatment philosophy and program guidelines.
- Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; Special Education preferred, or a Master's degree in Education with a focus on Special Education.
- Experience working with children or adolescents with disabilities in educational or behavioral healthcare settings.
- Possession of a current Professional License to teach issued by the State Board of Education, with a preference for Special Education.
- Certification or eligibility for certification in CPR, first aid, AED, and Handle with Care is required.
- A valid driver's license in good standing is necessary if on the Approved Driver's List.
