About the Role

As a Video Editor at Abstraction Media, you will play a pivotal role in crafting engaging, comedy-focused short-form videos. This position offers the chance to work on a variety of projects, including stand-up performances, podcasts, and promotional materials.

Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled video editor who is adept at producing short-form comedy clips. The ideal candidate is someone who stays updated on the latest editing trends within social media and digital culture. You will often be required to work independently, making creative decisions with minimal guidance while ensuring alignment with our brand's vision and established processes.

Our editing primarily utilizes DaVinci Resolve. While proficiency in Resolve is preferred, we are open to candidates who have experience with other non-linear editing software and are willing to learn. Additional skills in motion graphics, color grading, design, or sound editing will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and select content suitable for short-form video production
  • Maintain accurate logs and transcripts to streamline content management
  • Produce videos tailored for various social media platforms
  • Conduct basic color correction and audio mixing
  • Collaborate with the team to refine videos based on constructive feedback
  • Work alongside marketing and social media teams to create targeted content
  • Follow established workflows to ensure consistency across projects
  • Engage with content databases and contribute to improving workflow efficiency
  • Communicate effectively and stay organized to meet project deadlines
  • Design visually appealing thumbnails and cover images for video content

Qualifications

  • Proficient in DaVinci Resolve
  • Experienced in audio synchronization for both single and multi-camera setups
  • Strong understanding of various media formats and codecs
  • Excellent organizational and media management skills
  • Basic knowledge of audio normalization and mixing techniques
  • Prior experience in editing comedy content for social media and YouTube is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with current internet culture and trends
  • Experience with project management tools such as Basecamp, Trello, or Google Drive
  • Knowledge of Adobe After Effects and/or Photoshop is a plus
  • Skills in color correction and grading are also beneficial

Compensation

Salary range: $60,000 – $65,000
