Key Responsibilities:
Conducts patrols in designated City areas to monitor for parking infractions, traffic issues, or vehicles with unpaid parking fines.
Addresses violations by issuing citations, educating motorists on how to prevent future infractions, and coordinating the towing of vehicles when necessary.
Facilitates traffic flow and encourages parking availability through diligent enforcement of parking regulations.Inspects meters and vehicles for compliance with parking laws and issues citations as needed.
Clarifies relevant parking rules and the process for handling citations to vehicle operators.Identifies improperly parked vehicles and contacts towing services.
Assesses valet parking operations and recommends actions regarding permits as required.
Reports malfunctioning meters, missing signage, and hazardous conditions to the appropriate City department.
Informs drivers about options to prevent future violations and manages the towing of vehicles as necessary.
Enforces local and state parking laws, including time restrictions.
Provides assistance and information to the public as needed.
Guides motorists away from incidents and supports local law enforcement with traffic management.
Immobilizes vehicles on the City’s scofflaw list and collects outstanding fines when necessary.
Assists with traffic control during special events and road closures.Collaborates with the Police Department for traffic direction and street management.
Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
Ability to operate a mobile two-way radio and communicate effectively on police frequencies.
Must possess or be able to obtain a State of Florida Driver's license with a satisfactory driving record within a specified timeframe.
Completion of the Parking Enforcement Specialist Program and acquisition of a State of Florida Parking Enforcement Certification to issue citations.
Availability to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
New hires will undergo training for a minimum of one month across two of the following shifts: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM, and/or 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM before being assigned to a permanent shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in enforcing parking regulations.
Experience in managing traffic flow.
State of Florida Traffic Control Certification
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Essential employees may be required to work during emergencies as determined by their Department Head.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role involves moderate physical demands, including the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. The position requires significant walking and extended periods of standing, kneeling, and bending.

Evaluation of Training and Experience, Oral Interview, Written Examination, or other assessment method. Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 70 in each part of the examination to qualify. All successful candidates may be required to undergo a medical examination and/or drug screening prior to appointment.
Veterans who enter an open-competitive examination will receive preference points added to their total passing score as provided for in the Florida Statutes.
To obtain veteran's preference, candidates must submit relevant documentation at the time of application.
