About the Role

AECOM is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Rail and Transit team in Oakland, CA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for producing electrical and traction power construction documents for transit systems and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with traction power and facilities for electrified railways AC and DC systems.
  • Ensure all design elements are compliant with relevant rail operation rules, industry codes, and client expectations.
  • Prepare and guide drafters/designers and junior engineers in creating one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing drawings, substation physical layouts, and selection of MV/LV electrical equipment.
  • Interact with clients to discuss technical topics in a clear and professional manner.
  • Facilitate resolution of customer expectations versus technical issues.
  • Work with tight schedules, be flexible, control project budgets, and motivate junior staff.
Requirements
  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited education program.
  • Engineer-in Training (EIT) certified.
  • Professional Engineer License (PE).
  • Proven ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams and across different business units.
  • Experience in different phases of the engineering design life.
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
  • Strong AutoCAD skills.
  • Ability to use power system analysis tools such as SKM and ETAP.
  • Able to travel domestically or internationally to support proposals, projects, and client needs.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 70.
