Job Overview:

The Laboratory Section Lead plays a crucial role in guiding technologists through intricate specimen processing and testing, aiding healthcare professionals in patient diagnosis.

This position is accountable for overseeing daily specimen testing and reporting activities carried out by Medical Technologists and Technicians.

Ensures adherence to established policies and procedures, quality control measures, equipment upkeep, and proficiency testing protocols within designated areas as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor or Laboratory Manager.

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor or Laboratory Manager, this role guarantees that the designated areas comply with the accreditation standards set by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Regularly reviews CAP checklists to ensure section compliance and serves as a CAP inspector for other facilities. Actively contributes to the education and training of staff.

Responsible for ensuring the competency of staff within the area of responsibility.

Essential Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution. National registration by ASCP/HEW as a Medical Technologist or equivalent is required.
A minimum of four (4) years of prior hospital experience is preferred.
