Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Art Director to join our Social, Digital, and 360 team with a background in entertainment and brands. As our Art Director, you will craft engaging visual stories, provide conceptualization for impactful visual experiences, and deliver exceptional creative solutions through exceptional design, motion graphics, and creative strategy.

This position involves close collaboration with the Creative Director to ensure a high creative standard while playing a critical role in client-facing discussions through every phase of our integrated marketing campaigns, contributing to the overall success and innovation within the agency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creative process for design, working with strategists and copywriters to drive the initial concepts and visual development of each project.
  • Champion new ideas, challenge perspectives, and promote team contributions.
  • Provide an elevated design sensibility with the ability to execute a complete campaign visual aesthetic.
  • Offer unique and innovative solutions specific to each platform in terms of trends, best practices, new features, and emerging technology.

Design Leadership:

  • Design and pitch creative ideas for any genre.
  • Foster a positive team environment by building trust, morale, and respect, while sharing best practices.
  • Provide expertise and mentorship to guide our multi-disciplined junior team.
  • Provide innovative solutions for existing clients as well as new business opportunities.
  • Be consistent with internal and external feedback during creative critiques, and collaborate to achieve solutions.
  • Lead challenging presentations, providing strategic and creative rationale, while advancing discussions meaningfully in meetings.
  • Be recognized by clients as a reference point for creative excellence.
  • Strive to exceed client expectations and deliver all creative concepts on time.

Collaboration:

  • Coordinate closely with the creative team, effectively communicating client feedback and ensuring smooth production workflows across multiple projects.
  • Work closely with creative, production, and strategy teams across the agency to ensure alignment and integration of campaign elements.
  • Establish and nurture client relationships, creating a foundation for informal and formal discussions around project requirements.
  • Build strong credibility and predict client reactions to creative work through communication and anticipate future needs.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration and multi-disciplinary work across the creative teams.

Creative Production:

  • Unify the creative and production processes around quality and efficiency.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Collaborate with producers to monitor the availability and bandwidth of creative resources, ensuring efficient allocation and flagging potential issues that could impact project timelines.
  • Manage time effectively, ensuring efficient delegation to the creative team.
  • Provide leadership in internal meetings, ensuring they are productive and goal-oriented.
  • Work closely with the creative team to identify and address any resource constraints or conflicts.
  • Make timely and decisive decisions that move the team and projects forward.
  • Take ownership of deliverables, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining quality control across all client projects.
  • Maintain a commercial mindset, balancing high creative standards with efficient production.

Leadership & Culture:

  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Lead by example, ensuring the agency's culture is communicated clearly and embraced by the creative team and identify and implement opportunities to create a happy, healthy work environment where employees are empowered and engaged.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure new candidates align with Legion's culture and fit well within the creative team.
  • Facilitate a smooth onboarding process, ensuring that new hires are supported in their roles and implement the employee review process to support development and accountability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, multimedia design, motion design, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of agency experience, with a focus on social and digital marketing.
  • 2+ years experience managing a creative team.
  • Proven track record of leading successful digital marketing campaigns and client relationships.
  • Advanced knowledge of animation, compositing, and production within After Effects.
  • Familiarity with motion graphics for entertainment and brands.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite. Motion design and 3D software experience are a plus.
  • Experience with community management and engagement strategies.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, digital advertising, and integrated marketing strategies.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Trello, Frame, etc.).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with social and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Current understanding of all social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of emerging digital trends and technologies including AR, VR, AI.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
