About the Role:
This position is crucial for maintaining the integrity of our sanitation processes and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, direction, and training to both internal and external sanitation personnel, establishing safety and performance benchmarks.
- Oversee the execution of company sanitation protocols and safety practices.
- Monitor sanitation processes and evaluate performance metrics.
- Develop and document cleaning procedures, ensuring all employees are trained accordingly.
- Conduct inspections of sanitation work to verify adherence to specifications and standards.
- Maintain detailed records of materials utilized and results from sanitation tests in logs, allergen documentation, and master sanitation schedules (MSS).
- Review sanitation logs and records on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Facilitate regular meetings focused on sanitation initiatives and departmental activities.
- Address and resolve internal and external sanitation-related complaints.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to address equipment issues affecting sanitation operations.
- Recommend improvements in working conditions and equipment usage to enhance crew efficiency.
- Interpret and enforce company policies and GFSI (SQF), OFSS, cGMP, and safety regulations among staff.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and subordinates through various channels.
- Partner with chemical suppliers for employee training on SSOP and MSS.
- Participate in the recruitment process for new sanitation staff.
- Engage in food safety audit teams and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Complete tasks assigned from food safety audits and external evaluations.
- Assist in external plant audits as required.
- Perform cleaning tasks as necessary.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to effectively manage essential duties. Individuals should prioritize tasks and schedule the repair, maintenance, and installation of equipment. The qualifications listed below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required for success in this position.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in the food industry and/or sanitation is required.
- Proven leadership capabilities are essential.
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience within a food organization is preferred.
