Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Education Program Coordinator to join our team at Iowa Western Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the development, assessment, implementation, marketing, and evaluation of new and ongoing open enrollment courses, programs, and activities assigned to the Continuing Education Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Course and Program Management: Coordinate and market existing community education courses, programs, and partnerships.
  • Program Development: Develop, implement, market, and evaluate new community education classes, programs, events, and partnerships.
  • Instructor Management: Recruit and terminate part-time instructors as needed; supervise the orientation, induction, staff development, and evaluations of part-time instructors.
  • Needs Assessment: Conduct needs assessments with stakeholders, employers, students, and other customers through in-person meetings and electronic communication.
  • Program Budgeting: Provide input and monitor program budgets.
  • Community Outreach: Communicate and cooperate with community organizations for times, lengths, and locations of classes.
  • Evaluation and Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness and appropriateness of community education offerings and implement and/or recommend changes or improvements.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with Contract Training staff to ensure needs are met.
  • Representation: Represent Iowa Western Community College at local and state committees and initiatives.
  • Community Engagement: Participate in community activities and events to promote awareness of the College's community education programs.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise, recruit, and evaluate part-time staff involved in the coordination and development of community education offerings.
  • Curriculum Development: Update curricular guides, syllabi, and competencies to meet requirements.
  • Curriculum Support: Assist instructors with selection and customization of curricula and materials.
  • Decision-Making: Collaborate with Operations staff in the decision-making process regarding the cancellation of classes or events.
  • Grant Development: Collaborate with college staff and company personnel to develop appropriate company training plans funded through available grants.
  • Committee Participation: Serve on college committees and participate in Business and Community Education team meetings.
Qualifications
  • Education: Associate degree or higher is required.
  • Research and Project Management: Strong research and project management skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate in both small and large group settings and with diverse groups of people.
  • Computational Ability: Strong computational ability to include mathematic calculations and analyzing statistical data.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, to meet deadlines, to maintain and access paper and electronic files, to produce error-free final products, and to manage time and output.
  • Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Language: Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people.
  • Teamwork: Ability to function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, customer-oriented team.
  • Professionalism: Professional in communications, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness.

  • Credentials: Ability to pass a background check, have a valid U.S. driver's license, and good driving record.
Physical Demands
