Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer II to join our team at Sargent Aerospace & Defense. This role will be responsible for modeling safe behavior, promoting a culture of continual improvement, and supporting the manufacturing team at all levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Model safe behavior at all times
  • Promote a culture of continual improvement by utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Support the manufacturing team at all levels and operations
  • Evaluate and disposition non-conforming product
  • Provide technical data for front-end business activities
  • Evaluate supplier issues and provide technical guidance
  • Perform engineering analysis to determine root cause and implement corrective actions
  • Identify new technologies to improve process capability and increase process controls
  • Review engineering designs and documentation for manufacturability
  • Define manufacturing processes and maintain detailed manufacturing instructions for complex manufacturing products
  • Design tooling and fixtures for manufacturing and validation of product
  • Coordinate the acquisition and implementation of capital equipment and expenditures
  • Implement process documentation and provide training for production personnel
  • Actively participate in the engineering change process
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 3 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer
  • Master's degree in Engineering and 1 year of related technical experience
  • Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 5 years of manufacturing engineering-related experience
  • 8 years of manufacturing engineering-related experience and high school diploma or GED
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, procedures, and ensure blueprint compliance
  • Proficient knowledge and utilization of GD&T, schematics, and relevant test and inspection equipment
  • Proficient knowledge and utilization of solid modeling
  • Proficient knowledge and utilization of Lean and Six Sigma Principles
  • Demonstrated and documented cost savings projects with annual savings of $50,000
  • Demonstrated hands-on abilities through employment or personal projects
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a manufacturing aerospace, defense, or other regulated industry
  • Experience in the implementation and utilization of Lean and Six Sigma Principles
  • Lean/Six Sigma (Green) Belt certification
