Position Overview:

As a Staff Nurse at Parallax Center, you will collaborate with physicians and social workers to manage and treat patients with alcohol and/or substance use disorders in our outpatient medically supervised withdrawal and ongoing stabilization programs.

You will address acute disorders associated with alcohol and/or substance use, determining the level of care and treatment planning for continued recovery.

The successful candidate will manage daily medical operations, collaborating with the Clinical, Medical, and Billing Departments to provide safe and effective treatment of chemical dependence and co-occurring disorders.

Parallax Center is a dynamic learning environment that fosters professional growth and a multidisciplinary approach.

Salary range: $96,000 - $105,000 depending on experience


Responsibilities:
  • Assist with initial and ongoing patient care evaluations
  • Administer medications prescribed for withdrawal symptom management and ongoing stabilization
  • Obtain insurance authorization for treatment
  • Coordinate with clinical and medical staff to implement treatment plans and procedures
  • Develop individual service plans, discharge plans, and coordinate referrals for continuing care services and stabilization post-detox
  • Maintain accurate and timely record keeping of NY State compliance reports
  • Provide relapse prevention counseling, education, crisis counseling, and family counseling as needed
  • Maintain telephone communication with referrals and collaborative resources
  • Attend supervision and clinical meetings, participate in multidisciplinary cross-training
  • Assist in implementing special projects as needed

Qualifications:
  • Current New York State licensed Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with dual-diagnosed substance abuse and psychiatric patients
  • Ability to foster and maintain a positive working relationship in a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to prioritize and be detail-oriented, multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Ability to make critical clinical decisions independently; ability to process information quickly
  • Strong medical/clinical understanding of the business of healthcare
  • Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
  • Proficiency in Spanish is desirable
