Job Summary

This key leadership role will be responsible for designing and overseeing international partnerships, policies, and programs that advance the Institute's research and teaching missions and enhance the University's global reach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of the CEI global strategy through international engagement, program planning and execution, and financial, administrative, and regulatory/compliance oversight.
  • Work with CEI leadership to engage key global partners and networks.
  • Facilitate international research, exchange, and academic programs across degree and non-degree areas, including through the development of partnership agreements.
  • Support implementation components of degree and non-degree international educational programs.
  • Support the development and administration of internships and other student-facing opportunities.
  • Leverage UChicago Global presence to support student and faculty programs, research initiatives, and public-facing events for CEI.
  • Manage compliance and risk aspects of CEI global activities.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to develop new partnerships and ensure CEI adherence to university policies.
  • Provide leadership for and oversee all financial, purchasing, grant, facilities, human resources, and support services management activities for the unit.
  • Manage employees through senior managers. Oversees the development of performance goals, establishes the structure for allocating resources, and assessing division or University policies.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of an international outreach database. Prepare and implement campus-based itineraries for visiting international delegations.
  • Establish and maintain a database of peer and competitor profiles. Help develop and maintain a database of faculty (international) research topics and international inter-institutional collaborations.
  • Develop, maintain, and lead analyzing catalogs and registries of information about student, staff, and faculty international travel.
Requirements
  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in a related field.
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in public policy, business administration, or a related field.
  • Significant experience working with an academic institution with global presence.
  • Knowledge of higher education and the University of Chicago.
  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of professional experience in academic administration.
  • At least ten years of experience working in higher education, preferably in a coordinating or leadership role.
  • Managing budgets, making decisions, and negotiating contracts.
Preferred Competencies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build cooperative, effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders both on and off campus.
  • Work with individuals and institutions from diverse cultures and different parts of the world.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, appreciate, and support the mission, traditions, culture, and interactions of an academic community.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information, exercise discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, management, and communication skills.
  • Manage a wide range of responsibilities and multiple projects simultaneously.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent international travel.
