KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with client teams on compensation-related issues, including offers, promotions, retention strategies, and adjustments for internal equity and market alignment.
  • Work alongside stakeholders to assess and authorize position reclassifications, ensuring compliance with FLSA regulations and alignment with the City of Charlotte's job framework and relevant pay structures.
  • Contribute to annual salary planning processes.
  • Participate in compensation surveys to gather and analyze competitive salary data, determining the City of Charlotte's standing in the market. Conduct tailored salary surveys and review compensation practices of other municipalities.
  • Provide management with recommendations regarding new compensation policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the planning and communication of all compensation-related programs.
  • Prepare necessary presentations, reports, and memorandums to educate and inform assigned client groups about classification and compensation matters.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state compensation regulations (e.g., FLSA, EEO).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with integrated HR/Payroll systems such as Workday or Oracle.
  • Familiarity with market pricing software like Market Pay.
  • Certification as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) is preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in compensation, classification, and analytics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of lookup tables and pivot tables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret complex compensation data and present it clearly to colleagues.
  • Well-organized, able to work independently, yet a strong team collaborator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or Equivalent with seven years of related experience, or an Associate's Degree with five years of related experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with three years of related experience, or a Master's Degree with one year of related experience.
