Position Overview:
The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for patients through engaging recreational activities. This position is essential in fostering therapeutic leisure skills and promoting leisure education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive activities program tailored to meet the diverse needs of patients.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities including exercise, games, and community outings to promote social skills and independence.
- Adapt activities to accommodate specific group requirements and ensure inclusivity.
- Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional demeanor towards all patients and staff.
Activities May Include:
- Art projects (painting, coloring, collages)
- Music sessions
- Yoga and mindfulness practices
- Board games and puzzles
- Group games (e.g., volleyball, basketball)
- Community outings
Work Environment:
The position is based in a behavioral health center dedicated to providing exceptional mental health care for adolescents facing various challenges. The center focuses on establishing healthy behaviors and supporting transitions back to home environments.
Employment Details:
- Full-Time position (40 hours per week) with group activities scheduled three days a week.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy, or a related field is required.

- Physical capability to manage patients, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of CPR Certification and Handle with Care training prior to engaging in specific procedures.
- Flexibility to work occasional overtime as needed.
