Job Title: Recreational Therapist

At Universal Health Services, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Recreational Therapist to join our team at Suncoast Behavioral Health Center.

Job Summary:

The Recreational Therapist will be responsible for designing and implementing recreational therapy programs that promote cognitive, social, physical, and emotional development for our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in recreational therapy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement recreational therapy programs that meet the physical, social, emotional, therapeutic, cognitive, and recreational needs of our patients.
  • Utilize individual and/or group activity interventions to bring about positive changes in the client's behavior.
  • Educate patients in healthy coping skills and available leisure resources to continue the client in post-discharge leisure planning and involvement.
  • Attend treatment team conferences to exchange information and observations with other members of the team.
  • Assess patients within two (2) days of admission and complete evaluations of progress.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreational Therapy required.
  • Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) required.
  • Two (2) years' experience providing Recreation/Activities Therapy. Prefer minimum of two (2) years in a psychiatric setting with adolescent population.
  • Working knowledge of recreational therapy programming.
  • Effective oral and written communication skill.
