The incumbent will oversee and provide counsel to individuals who are either detained, committed, or residing in various juvenile facilities. Additionally, responsibilities include supervising minors engaged in community service projects and closely monitoring those under home supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Supervision and Counseling:** Engage with youth in custody, offering support and guidance to facilitate their rehabilitation.
2. **Work Project Oversight:** Manage and direct minors assigned to community service initiatives, ensuring compliance and engagement.
3. **Home Supervision Monitoring:** Provide diligent oversight of minors placed under home supervision, ensuring adherence to established guidelines.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
1. Understanding of the principles and techniques relevant to the care and rehabilitation of juvenile offenders.
2. Awareness of the developmental needs and challenges faced by minors.
3. Familiarity with behavioral disorder symptoms and group dynamics.
4. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards governing juvenile care and treatment.
5. Proficiency in investigative principles and legal procedures related to evidence handling.
6. Competence in counseling methodologies and crisis intervention strategies.
Qualifications:
1. A degree from an accredited four-year institution, ideally in criminal justice, social sciences, or a related field.
2. Relevant experience in law enforcement or correctional settings may substitute for educational requirements on a pro-rated basis.
General Requirements:
1. Successful completion of a criminal background check is mandatory.
2. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
