Job Description:

Direct Counsel, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate to join their team. As a key member of the Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Area, you will be responsible for providing expert advice to clients on a range of US-focused privacy and other data-related compliance counseling.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Advisory: Lead projects and provide direct interface with clients to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Compliance Gap Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments to identify and address compliance gaps.
  • Compliance Program Development: Develop comprehensive compliance programs tailored to clients' specific needs.
  • Policies and Procedures: Draft and implement policies, procedures, and guidance on data privacy and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Contracting and Playbook Development: Assist clients in determining priorities, risks, and implementation of compliance programs.

Requirements:

Experience: 3-5 years of practical data privacy counseling experience, with a focus on state privacy laws (CCPA, WA MHMD, and other equivalent state privacy laws).

Skills: Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication abilities, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Education: JD degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications: Certified Information Privacy Professionals (CIPP-US, CIPT, and CIPM) are preferred but not mandatory.

Admission to Practice: Must be admitted to practice in the jurisdiction in which you are applying.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range is based on Year of JD Class starting at $235,000 per year for 2022 graduates.
