Senior Professional Staff Nurse, Outpatient

UPMC St. Margaret is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Professional Staff Nurse, Outpatient to join their Pain Management team. As a key member of the care delivery team, this individual will be responsible for setting care standards, managing patient care activities, and collaborating with healthcare providers to achieve desired outcomes.
Responsibilities- Professional Development: Continuously improve professional practice and patient care quality through ongoing education and training.
- Team Collaboration: Engage in shared governance, goal setting, and support change processes to enhance care quality and the practice environment.
- Patient Care: Partner with the care team to provide high-quality patient care, adapt to changes, and prioritize patient needs.
- Relationship Building: Maintain positive relationships with executives, managers, physicians, staff, and patients/families to promote a culture of collaboration and respect.
- Work Efficiency: Effectively manage multiple priorities, specialized equipment, and complex environments to ensure seamless patient care.
- Clinical Judgment: Utilize critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills to make informed decisions in patient care.
- Teaching: Apply adult learning principles to educate patients, families, students, and new staff, providing detailed guidance throughout the care episode.
- Mentorship: Support the development of students, new staff, and colleagues, fostering an environment of open dialogue and continuous improvement.
- Cultural Competence: Understand cultural differences and promote healthy relationships, balancing work and personal life, and managing time effectively.
- Patient Care Planning: Formulate patient care goals and plans, considering individual needs holistically, and assist physicians with patient care, including assessment, evaluation, and education.
- Communication: Practice solid communication skills, document patient care comprehensively, and promote caregiver communication.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement efforts, identify opportunities for improvement, and take responsibility for enhancing patient satisfaction.
- Research and Evidence-Based Practice: Utilize research to support clinical care improvements and identify relevant research issues.
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience.
- BSN preferred.
- Rating of solid/strong/good or higher on most recent performance evaluation.
- UPMC approved national certification OR master's degree or higher in Nursing required.
- UPMC Professional Contribution required.
