Key Responsibilities:
As an Advanced Practice Nurse Anesthetist, you will:
- Administer anesthesia and related care in partnership with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
- Conduct pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations.
- Prepare anesthesia equipment and supplies for various procedures.
- Evaluate patients pre-operatively through interviews and examinations, assessing data to select the appropriate anesthetic.
- Verify procedural consent prior to each operation.
- Formulate patient-specific anesthesia care plans based on pre-surgical assessments, collaborating with attending anesthesiologists and other medical professionals.
- Implement, monitor, and adjust the patient's physiological condition as necessary for the type of anesthesia and individual patient needs.
- Transfer patient care responsibility to qualified providers post-operatively to ensure continuity and safety.
- Provide thorough documentation upon patient transfer from intra-operative to post-operative care.
- Implement acute and chronic post-operative pain management strategies.
- Select and order medications, fluids, and ventilatory support to aid recovery from anesthesia.
- Discharge patients from the post-anesthesia care unit with appropriate follow-up and care.
- Engage in additional responsibilities within your expertise, such as responding to cardiac emergencies and performing elective intubations.
- Ensure accurate documentation to support billing for services rendered.
Qualifications:
- Current registered nurse license in the State of Illinois.
- Current Advanced Practice Nurse license in the State of Illinois.
- Master's Degree in Nursing and certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
- Maintain privileges and credentials with the Medical Staff in accordance with established bylaws.
- ACLS and CPR certifications.
