Responsibilities

• Abstract and assign diagnoses and procedure codes for discharged patients using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 classification systems
• Conduct data quality reviews and serve as a trainer for other coding staff
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of MS-DRG and APC assignment and reimbursement
• Assist in reconciling coding and billing issues
• Support the hospital's established values and standards of behavior

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Graduate of an AHIMA accredited program with completion of the CCS/RHIT/RHIA programs, including the successful completion of the registration exam
• Minimum of one to three years coding experience in an Acute Care Hospital preferred
