Job Summary

The Peer Outreach Worker is a part-time position responsible for delivering and maintaining services and programs that meet the specific needs of youth. This role requires a strong commitment to ethical behavior and maintaining healthy boundaries with youth while performing all aspects of the designated program.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform all functions and responsibilities in a youth-focused, culturally competent manner.
  2. Identify, refer, and coordinate necessary community resource programs.
  3. Establish and maintain working relationships with peers, community partners, educators, youth support systems, and resource staff to achieve established program plan goals.
  4. Develop and maintain supportive, nurturing, and empowering relationships with youth.
  5. Assist with donations and resources at the resource Hubs and special events, including logging and tracking all resources and contacts made.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of equivalent experience or knowledge related to the field in and/or working with resources and programs that serve young adults and youth experiencing homelessness.
  • Demonstrated professionalism in the areas of time management and communication.
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve utilizing all resources available.
  • Ability to work as a team and represent the Y and its core values.
  • Non-driving position, must be able to work in the field, there is no remote or work from home.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft office suite (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED certification within the first 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Multilingual.
  • Prior experience navigating homeless services and resources.
Work Conditions

The Peer Outreach Worker must be able to perform a variety of physical activities with program participants, which may include walking, standing for long periods of time, running, throwing, and lifting up to 50lbs. The role also requires the ability to travel locally to attend outreach events, outreach shifts, and meetings as scheduled. Weekend and evening work may be required.
