This role involves providing essential support within the Litigation, Arbitration, and Employment (LAE) practice group, ensuring that attorneys are effectively assisted throughout the litigation lifecycle—from initial information gathering to discovery, trial, and the meticulous archival of case materials. Under the guidance of supervising attorneys, daily tasks will encompass managing correspondence and discovery, facilitating hearings, trials, and administrative proceedings, conducting cite checks on briefs, and aiding in settlement processes.

The paralegal will be instrumental in the retrieval, examination, and production of documents, both incoming and outgoing. Furthermore, this position will extend support for all trials and/or arbitrations, collaborating with IT and Advanced Client Data Solutions to uphold security protocols and implement best practices consistently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft and finalize legal pleadings in compliance with relevant state and federal regulations for court submission;
  • Assist in the retrieval, organization, review, and production of legal documents;
  • Maintain comprehensive case pleadings, correspondence, discovery materials, and research for high-volume cases;
  • Conduct cite-checking and editing of legal documents;
  • Manage a database of client advisories;
  • Oversee document, transcript, and work product databases;
  • Perform legal research and compose concise memoranda summarizing findings;
  • Organize and prepare exhibit lists and privilege logs;
  • Coordinate with the Advanced Client Data Solutions team for initial case consultations, including monitoring preservation, collection, processing, and production of client data;
  • Collaborate with external document and litigation vendors, ensuring adherence to strict deadlines;
  • Ensure compliance of all engaged vendors with the firm's security protocols, bidding processes, and confidentiality requirements;
  • Validate data and manage systems in accordance with standard operating procedures;
  • Maintain an organized filing and media management system;
  • Monitor project and case statuses closely, providing regular updates including task completion and data delivery schedules;
  • Train attorneys and staff on litigation support applications;
  • Assist in trial site preparations and attend trials;
  • Uphold confidentiality of client information;
  • Participate in the Responsible Business program as encouraged;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Proficiency with software such as Relativity, Case Map, Case Notebook, TimeMap, Sanction, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Nuance, Opus2, LiveNote, FTP Transfer Protocol, Encryption Protocol, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities;
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities;
  • Ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with or without direct supervision;
  • Excellent client service skills, with the capacity to collaborate across departments for planning and problem-solving;
  • Flexibility to meet shifting deadlines and balance competing priorities;
  • Analytical skills to assess the cost/benefit of actions and to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw conclusions;
  • Ability to effectively present routine information in individual or small group settings.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of two (2) years of litigation experience in a law firm or equivalent setting;
  • A bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and experience is required;
  • Familiarity with litigation support data applications and databases, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department;
  • Experience with electronic discovery support, including vendor coordination and data management from collection to production, is advantageous;
  • A paralegal certificate is preferred.

WORK HOURS

Core working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break. Availability for occasional overtime is necessary.
