Software Development Engineering Manager

We are seeking a seasoned manager to lead our Abacus Core Apps team, responsible for developing and maintaining critical backend Linux command-line applications.
These applications, written in C/C++, Perl, Python, and shell scripts, form the backbone of Abacus' file processing and list fulfillment software suite.
As the manager of the Abacus Core Apps team, you will oversee the development of essential backend systems, driving improvements in scalability, efficiency, and code quality.
Your expertise in C++, scripting, and software best practices will elevate the team's capabilities and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
Through effective communication and collaboration, you will align technical and non-technical stakeholders, enhancing our ability to deliver high-quality solutions and support the company's growth.
Key responsibilities include leading a team of six engineers, guiding development efforts, and ensuring successful project delivery.
Additionally, you will oversee the management of the team backlog, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure alignment with project goals.
Other key responsibilities include coordinating project logistics, optimizing resource allocation, and driving continuous improvement in processes and codebase maintainability.
As a software engineering expert, you will advocate for best practices, including test automation and code quality.
Strong leadership, team-building, and mentoring capabilities are essential for this role.
Required skills include expertise in C++ and associated development tools, proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or shell scripting, and experience with test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and software development best practices.
A track record of problem-solving and debugging complex applications is also essential.
Proficient in data analytics and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools is a plus.
Experience in developing or porting software to cloud platforms like AWS is also desirable.
A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required, along with 5+ years of experience in software development.
