UPMC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will be responsible for planning, administering, and evaluating department operations to achieve strategic goals and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Manage daily pharmacy operations, including supervising staff, coordinating workflow, and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Medication Safety and Quality: Participate in medication safety programs, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement system-based changes to enhance patient safety.
- Staff Development and Training: Coordinate orientation, training, and competency assessment for employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with state pharmacy laws, regulatory standards, and professional practice guidelines.
- Communication and Collaboration: Act as a liaison between service areas and the pharmacy team, coordinating services and resolving issues to ensure a highly effective medication use system.
- Dispensing and Auditing: Dispense medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling in accordance with professional practice guidelines and regulatory standards. Audit controlled substance systems and follow up on unresolved discrepancies.
- Education and Qualifications: A B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) is required. Two years of supervisory experience is also required. Current licensure as a Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required, as well as authorization to administer injectables within one year for retail pharmacies.
