Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Finance is a key member of the hotel's financial team, responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the accounting staff. This role requires a strong focus on profitability, financial reporting, and internal controls, as well as a commitment to ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Finance in preparing monthly financial statements for the property, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare, monitor, and record hotel revenues daily, identifying variances to budget and last year's performance.
- Monitor and control hotel operations, cash flow, and operating forecasts, ensuring the property is operating within established guidelines.
- Collaborate with Department Heads to ensure property operations are on track and under control at all times.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Supervise accounting department staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Ensure compliance with Highgate Accounting Policies and Procedures, as well as internal controls for finance and accounting operations.
- Effectively manage and communicate issues related to receivables, payables, daily cash balances, and timely deposits of all funds.
- Monitor hotel revenues and expenses, ensuring accurate recording in accordance with Highgate Hotel's established guidelines.
- Analyze financial data and operations to assist the Director of Finance and advise Department Heads on maintaining the hotel's financial objectives.
- Supervise the hiring, training, and development of staff, including coaching, counseling, and discipline.
- Prepare special reports, statements, and other documents as requested.
- Perform other special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Strong PC skills, including Excel, Word, and financial accounting systems.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work long hours and adapt to changing priorities.
- Desirable: Hospitality-related financial management and accounting experience.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000
