As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at Colas Inc., you will be responsible for diagnosing and performing major and minor repairs to a variety of fleet equipment, including front-end loaders, excavators, and ready-mix trucks. Main Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair faults or malfunctions in heavy equipment using diagnostic equipment and visual inspection
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts, including transmissions and other components
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects and ensure proper performance
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings to ensure proper operation of equipment
  • Install new ignition systems, change/charge batteries, and replace other parts as needed

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Technical school in a related field a plus
  • 3 or more years of experience as a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic preferred
  • Proven experience with Cat, Komatsu, and Volvo equipment and diagnostic software
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
