Swim Instructor Job Description

At Attleboro Norton YMCA, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Swim Instructor to join our team. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching swimming lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels, while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines and best practices.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs of diverse learners.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment for members.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive and effective program.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Requirements:
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
  • YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification (or willingness to obtain based on class availability).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and age groups.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:

The Swim Instructor will work in a fast-paced aquatic environment, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 15 pounds, and bend and stoop occasionally. The position also requires the ability to stay in the pool for extended periods.
