Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Emergency Department team at Marshall Medical Centers, an affiliate of the Huntsville Hospital Health System. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will provide comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice, including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examinations, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care and scholarly practice in the Emergency Department
  • Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform complete physical examinations
  • Order and perform diagnostic testing and screening as needed
  • Diagnose illness and prescribe both pharmacological and other treatments for patients
  • Provide health maintenance and promotion interventions, including patient and family education and counseling
  • Assume accountability for indirect care responsibilities, including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for Nurse Practitioners
  • Current registration through the Alabama Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners
  • Approval of the Northwest Alabama Healthcare Authority credentialing board
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers, ACLS, and/or PALS
