Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director-Coding to join our team at NYU Langone Health. As a key member of our Health Information Management Department, you will be responsible for overseeing coding operations, ensuring accurate and timely coding of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and ancillary services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage coding and abstracting functions, ensuring accurate and timely coding of patient records.
  • Provide leadership and expertise in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 coding systems, as well as MS-DRG, NYS DRG, APC, and APG.
  • Develop and maintain coding and documentation quality and compliance programs, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Coding and CDI Initiatives to improve clinical documentation and coding practices.
  • Supervise and train coding staff, ensuring productivity, quality, and compliance with coding standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and advancements in coding and reimbursement, integrating knowledge into current work practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field.
  • Coding certification (CCS) required.
  • Minimum 8 years of coding experience, with 5 years of management experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) credential.
  • MS or Post-Baccalaureate degree in Health Informatics.
  • Experience working in a teaching hospital or academic medical center.
