Role Responsibilities:

The Substance Use Treatment Clinician will hold comprehensive clinical responsibilities for assigned clients. These responsibilities will focus on achieving excellence in client care and will encompass: individual intake and psychosocial evaluations; clinical triage; group facilitation within an intensive outpatient program; care coordination in a medication-assisted treatment context; documenting evaluation findings and client progress in medical records; and providing individual, couples, and family counseling as necessary while maintaining connections with community resources for aftercare and comprehensive discharge planning. All services will be delivered in a manner and language suitable for the age and understanding of clients and their families. All Clinicians are expected to actively engage as members of their teams.

In this role, you will:
  • Engage in daily collaboration with team members to assist in formulating care plans for patients.
  • Deliver substance use and mental health treatment in individual, group, and intensive outpatient settings.
  • Conduct and document individual assessments; develop tailored treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Provide care as part of a multidisciplinary team in collaboration with the Treatment and Recovery Courts.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  1. Education: A Master's degree in Social Work or Clinical Counseling from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  2. Licenses/Certifications: Maine State licensure as a LCSW, LMSW-CC, or LCPC is required. (LMFT or CNS licenses are also accepted). Maine State licensure as a LADC and CADC is preferred.
  3. Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in a substance abuse or mental health treatment environment is preferred. Relevant experience in a health or mental health setting is also desirable. Depending on the client population, specific experience may vary. Prior experience with clinical methods and techniques used in individual, family, and group therapy related to mental health and/or substance abuse issues is essential.
  4. Knowledge of social work/counseling theories, therapies, and techniques applicable in individual, family, and group treatment, as well as principles of social welfare, is required.
