Job Summary

The Interventional Radiology Technologist plays a crucial role in supporting Interventional Radiologists by maintaining sterile fields, preparing procedural trays, and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Interventional Radiology exams following protocols, ensuring timely and accurate imaging.
  • Prepare procedural trays and necessary supplies in advance.
  • Assist in prepping and draping patients and equipment for procedures.
  • Scrub in and assist with procedures while maintaining a sterile field.
  • Provide post-procedure care, including applying pressure, cleaning, suturing, and bandaging the procedure site.
  • Circulate and gather needed equipment or products for cases as appropriate.
  • Execute radiographic protocols accurately across all equipment.
  • Obtain patient history and necessary prior images for procedures.
  • Communicate relevant patient information, such as symptoms or history, to the radiologist.
  • Complete all documentation, including patient demographics, images, and dose data.
  • Coordinate patient flow and ensure all exams are completed according to schedule.
  • Alert physicians of dose thresholds during procedures to support ALARA protocols.
  • Educate patients on procedures and answer any questions.
  • Interact professionally with physicians, patients, and family members.
  • Start IVs for contrast administration and operate the power injector.
  • Participate in on-call shifts to provide after-hours coverage.
  • Maintain certifications and required licenses.
  • Perform daily maintenance of work areas, ensuring cleanliness and stock availability.
  • Uphold the customer service initiative by adhering to the organization's ICARE values.
  • Contribute to quality improvement (QI) and performance improvement (PI) efforts.
  • Meet quarterly targeted metrics, such as Kronos, HealthStream, and PACS requirements.
  • Provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate an understanding of patient growth and development.
Requirements
  • Degree from an ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, required within 30 days of employment.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification.
  • A minimum of 2 years of general diagnostic radiology experience, preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in Interventional Radiology, strongly preferred.
