Job Overview

Position Summary: The Radiologic Technologist specializing in Mammography is responsible for conducting routine and standardized imaging examinations while assisting in more complex procedures as necessary. This role requires proficiency in various imaging modalities and adherence to ethical and professional standards. The technologist must effectively communicate with patients of all ages, explaining procedures and potential risks in an understandable manner. Additionally, they are tasked with troubleshooting diagnostic equipment and ensuring the safe handling of all radiation-producing devices. Prompt reporting of significant equipment issues to service representatives is essential. The technologist will work under the guidance of the radiology director and collaborate with medical staff to provide exceptional patient care, while strictly following all applicable federal and state regulations related to diagnostic imaging services.

Qualifications, Certifications, and Experience: Candidates must hold certification in general radiologic technology from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)(R). For those performing Mammography duties independently, advanced ARRT certification is mandatory. This advanced certification signifies the ability to operate autonomously and demonstrates specific clinical competency in the specialty area. Technologists lacking advanced certification may receive on-the-job training under the supervision of a certified radiologic technologist. A minimum of 8 hours of MQSA DBT Certification is required. Completion of a comprehensive training program in diagnostic radiologic technology, lasting at least 24 months and accredited by recognized agencies, is necessary. Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Candidates should possess knowledge of radiographic exposure standards, anatomy, patient safety protocols, and the operation of radiographic equipment, along with the ability to learn basic computer functions.
