Waste Connections is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee our fleet operations. This role will focus on enhancing, managing, and optimizing the daily functions of our fleet and workshop facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with the corporate safety protocols.
- Encourage teamwork and collaboration among staff.
- Provide adequate training for mechanics and workshop personnel.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies and laws.
- Manage inventory control and equipment maintenance.
- Prepare purchase orders and source competitive pricing for parts and repairs.
- Engage with vendors regarding maintenance concerns, contracts, and warranty services.
- Organize and delegate tasks to mechanics and workshop staff.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial forecasts and annual budgets.
- Maintain departmental expenses within budgetary constraints.
- Guide and support mechanics in diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipment.
- Complete necessary documentation related to vehicle repairs, parts usage, and time tracking.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on various heavy equipment and vehicles.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to plan, budget, schedule, and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Strong understanding of DOT compliance regulations.
- Capability to inspire staff to achieve corporate and regional goals.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with a focus on cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in maintenance for trucks or heavy equipment.
- Proven ability to train and motivate team members.
- Knowledge of air brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Expertise in diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to interpret service and technical documentation.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must obtain or be eligible for CDL certification within 90 days of employment.
