Job Summary
Children's Law Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Attorney to join our Guardian ad Litem (GAL) program. As a Staff Attorney, you will represent children who are the subject of abuse and neglect cases in DC's Family Court, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team to provide zealous, client-centered, trauma-informed, holistic, and culturally humble advocacy on behalf of our clients' best interests.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality direct legal representation to clients in all cases
• Zealously advocate for clients in all cases
• Attend all court dates and timely file all appropriate pleadings
• Maintain accurate, timely data entry and document storage in CLC's case management system
• Participate in all required trainings, meetings, and other CLC events
• Follow all case representation policies
• Provide support to CLC's policy team in areas of expertise to address the systemic needs of CLC's clients
• Identify and elevate TASIL (Targeted Appellate Strategy Issues List) cases to supervisor and Appellate Team

Requirements
A JD degree and DC Bar membership or eligibility for DC Bar membership based on the transfer of a Uniform Bar Examination score attained in another jurisdiction or membership in good standing in the Bar of another jurisdiction for at least 3 years immediately prior to the application for admission. Strong legal analysis, research, writing, and oral advocacy skills, as well as excellent organizational and time management skills, are also required. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to social, economic, and racial justice, and will be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
